Yesterday I put up a blog about my response when someone used a phrase I dont often hear.
This kind of response or something similar, is something which we all do.
As I add more blogs and flogs there will be conversations with others so that its not just my experiences you hear or read.
The process I have outlined is simplified to 5 stages.
The first stage is the activity I was carrying out. In this case the conversation I was having.
The second stage is the event which took place. In this case it was an unexpected two word phrase which interrupted the activity
The third stage was an awareness shift. This is where my attention moved deeper as I put more resources into analysis of this phrase
The fourth stage was a deeper awareness of blocking and automatic creation of sounds and a shift in my physiology
The fifth stage was a conscious move back to the first stage activity.
Many differing cultures have different ways to describe the differing stages.
In sport we refer to flow state, where someone is fully energized and engaged in the process.
At first stage because this was an everyday conversation its debatable that we were both in flow state.
Here is the link to the process as a visual.
Excuse my first stage video. They will get better I promise
